Our Town Needs Article #14 to Pass at the Annual Town Meeting

This post was submitted to the LongmeadowBuzz blog by Mark Gold, member of the Longmeadow Select Board.  It is a series of slides created by Mr. Gold with information about Article #14.   Copies of these slides will be handed out at the Annual Town Meeting on June 23.

The Select Board at an earlier meeting this month voted to approve for this article to be added to the Meeting Warrant.

Question -
Can you give a breakdown of the % contributed by employers towards their benefits package (healthcare/dental/vision) and at what time do the employment contract terms end and subject to new negotiations by manor group (teachers, police, etc.?

What are the total costs and breakdown by general category of town expenses for services that are “outsourced” i.e. performed by other than town employees?

When is the next town property appraisals/assessments?

If I understand this correctly, it will be important that the meeting clearly lets citizens know that if Article 14 passes, the citizens still will control by town voting whether to exceed the 25% cap will be allowed if necessary to meet an approved budget?
